This lot is produced by Júlia Ribeiro do Valle and her family, who have a deep-rooted tradition in coffee farming. The Ribeiro do Valle family has been in the coffee business for over 140 years, with the first generation planting the initial coffee trees back in 1880.

With a mountainous relief, the cherry is picked manually in 70% of the area. The other 30% relies on brand-new machinery. During the past few years, lots of improvements were implemented: the old patio became a garden in front of the house and now the work is being done in a new one, double the size, in a higher spot, where the sunlight reaches during the whole morning and afternoon. The washers are also brand new, and with one advantage: they use way less water than the conventional ones.

Besides the patio, they own a large and complete structure for the dryers and the wooden boxes so the coffees can rest separately after the lots undergo all the previous steps. They also use their raised beds, usually when preparing nano and micro-lots.

Environmental reserve areas cover 40% of the farm, including a very special spot: a huge Jequitibá tree, native species, completely preserved, with an estimated age of over 1000 years.

At Monte Alto, they also develop social work with the local community, offering computer classes for kids, teenagers and young adults, a library, playground, cooking classes, horseback riding and many other activities. They are also partnering with the Federal Institution of Muzambinho (a city near Guaxupé). Through this program, the students learn about the native fauna and flora, catalogue all the species and also how to take care of the environment with simple daily basis actions.
More than 30 families live and work on the property. Curiously, the great part is the offspring of previous residents. They created an amazing relationship with the farm and the people around them.
